I think some (all?) of the negative reviewers are missing the point of this book. Yes, a lot of the information in this book has been written about before, even by Mark himself. What this book does however (at least for me) is tie all that information together into an executable plan. I've read endlessly about Primal/Keto/Intermittent Fasting, etc. but never knew quite where to start and/or how to implement all that information. This book did that for me.
I am an avid ketogenic information junkie and Mark Sisson and Brad Kearns deliver big!! I am excited and it gets worse!!!I look forward to coming back with even better results! I am a late bloomer to his books and my focus for the last three weeks has been his other book the Keto Reset Diet! I have lost 12 lbs. and he has taught me a lot about plateaus, insulin resistance, and fasting with updated science that I really cherish. I thought I had a long way to go because I had damaged my metabolism with chronic dieting and exercise. I am learning exactly how much damage to my metabolism I have caused by giving up on eating plans then going back to extreme eating plans and exercising way too much without rest and rejuvenation.Ever use common seed oils to lessen the insulin spike? Yeah, me too!! Guess what? These oils directly cause insulin resistance!!! Unfortunately, they are in everything! Breakthrough insulin resistance without the bowel challenges of Metformin!! The difference with this plan is it's well put together with a goldmine of information, especially in chapter 7- "Advanced strategies for fat Reduction"! Don’t just tell me to do something, I have to have the science and other author’s opinions on what is safe and what I need to trash. If I don’t actually learn the how-to or why I am doing what I am doing it just won’t stick!! Going back to so-called “keto-friendly” seed oils just sabotaged my success. (Mayo, mass market-bad quality olive oils, common industrial oils, etc.) Cold Therapy, which incinerates brown fat is one of the gems and I loved his examples with some real numbers for reference. Cold therapy doesn’t mean I have to do cold therapy “iceman” style. That will be one of the biggest weapons in my fat loss arsenal that takes little time to do. Don’t have to cut a hole in the ice to get the same benefits.“Fat requires mitochondria to be burned for energy but glucose can be burned directly in the cell without mitochondria. Force your body to burn fat for energy.“ I personally workout to YouTube Dr. Mercola’s Sprint 8 recumbent bike video for 20 minutes 3x a week -(Phil Cambel is one of the pioneers in this area and he says it raises HGH by over 600%) I will do my best to have an extended fast after to reap the hormonal benefits. He will go over different fasting methods with examples and micro workouts or brief walks to melt the hunger hormone Ghrelin. He also goes over the perfect combination of electrolytes and gives you his favorite brand.This first 2-star reviewer's complaint is beyond my comprehension. The book is worth every penny just for chapter 7 alone!He scours the best science and authors and delivers here for us all in one place. You can get the science and gather all the information yourself and take notes from endless reading, but why do that when it is all in one place.?I liked his meal plans so I look forward to the extra 42 meals that he provides. He also goes over different weight loss plans out there and what is destructive about them or how they fail nutritionally. I will be implementing the 12 day turbocharge challenge! I can do anything for 12 days! He supercharged my attitude! Join me! I hope there is a FB Group!I shall be back with an edit to give you more gems and updates on my recovering damaged metabolism! 😊
